Bio

Dancer. Choreographer. Educator.
 

As a commercial dancer, Neo Lynch worked with renowned artists and producers within the music and entertainment industry, including Beyonce, Ciara, Justin Timberlake, Jay-Z, Chris Brown, P. Diddy, Gucci Mane, Swizz Beatz, Nelly, the Ying-Yang Twinz, Bow-Wow, The Dream, Sean Garrett, and Keri Hilson. She has worked  with  leading industry choreographers, including Jamaica Craft, Fatima Robinson, Frank Gatson, Laurieann Gibson, Richy Squirrel, Marty Kudleka, Galen Hooks, James Alsop, Jamal Story, Bubba Carr, Ebony Williams, Amy Allen, Sean Bankhead, and JaQuel Knight.

She has trained dancers ranging from recreational enthusiasts to professionals within the private sector. Neo was honored with the National Dance Education Organization's (NDEO) Outstanding Leadership in the Independent Sector Award in 2024. Her choreographic work has received regional and national recognition at dance conventions and competitions, earning her Choreography Excellence Awards in multiple genres including hip-hop, jazz, lyrical, and contemporary dance. Furthermore, Neo claimed several accolades at the VA Dance Awards, including Best Hip-Hop Choreography, Best Lyrical Choreography, Best Jazz Choreography, Best Heels Choreography, and Choreographer of the Year.

Committed to creating and fostering inclusive dance environments through education, Neo is affiliated with the Dance Studies Association (DSA), NDEO, and Youth Protection Advocates in Dance (YPAD). She founded the Black Dance Teachers Association (BDTA) and initiated the Abby Warren Memorial Chapter of the National Honor Society for Dance Arts (NHSDA). In 2024, she was a presenter at the Dance Educators Training Institute (DETI), leading the B.R.E.A.D. (Building Racial Equity in the Arts through Dance) & Butter of Southern Hip Hop forum. She has also participated as a panelist in the Racism in Dance series hosted by the RVA Dance Forum and contributed to symposiums on the influence and evolution of hip-hop at the University of Richmond.

Neo’s academic research explores the intersection of hip-hop dance and whiteness studies, with particular attention to the ideologies of color-blindness and color-consciousness in dance education. Her work offers a critical analysis of how these frameworks shape the pedagogy and cultural transmission of dance history.
